The RM of Prairie Lakes is seeking passionate and energetic individuals to fill Municipal Watercraft Inspector positions. We are looking to fill positions at the Ninette boat launch location where staff will greet visitors during the boating season to confirm compliance to Manitoba’s Aquatic Invasive Species Regulation and the municipal by-law.
Location: -The Municipal Watercraft Inspection Station will be in Ninette, MB.
Conditions of Employment: -Must be legally entitled to work in Canada -Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 driver's license. -Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position including: bending, kneeling and lifting up to 22 kgs (50 lbs.). -Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in various weather conditions. -Must be willing and able to work weekends, statutory holidays, and overtime as required. -Must successfully complete the Manitoba Aquatic Invasive Species watercraft inspection training (provided).
Qualifications: -Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment. -Experience working with the public. -Effective verbal communication skills. -Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. -Ability to work independently under minimal supervision. -Strong organizational and time management skills including the ability to work under pressure. -Effective written communication skills.
Duties: The Municipal Watercraft Inspector plays an integral role in enforcing Manitoba's Aquatic Invasive Species Regulation, particularly inspecting watercraft and water-related equipment, communicating with and educating the public about the Province's Aquatic Invasive Species Program; and promoting and educating the public about the stewardship practices they must employ to prevent the introduction and spread of aquatic invasive species in Manitoba and specifically Pelican Lake. Accepting payments will be required. Successful candidates will be expected to work evenings and weekends, including statutory holidays and outdoors in various weather conditions. Initial plans are 12-hour days with four days on, four days off rotation.
Start date: April 28, 2025 for 20 - 26 weeks. Successful candidates must obtain a criminal record check.
